A golden year for British tennis doubles

British doubles players have enjoyed a landmark year in 2025, with five men ranked inside the ATP top 10 for the first time in the Open Era.

World No.1 Julian Cash and No.2 Lloyd Glasspool lead the way after capturing their first Wimbledon title together, while Henry Patten sits at No.3 following his Australian Open triumph. Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury complete the top five, having reached the finals at both Roland Garros and the US Open.

It marks the first time in 32 years that five players from one nation have occupied top-10 positions simultaneously, placing Great Britain alongside the United States and Australia as the only nations to achieve this feat.

All five pairs have also secured qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin (9–16 November), where the world’s eight best doubles teams will compete for the year-end championship.

Beyond rankings, the results underline the depth of British men’s doubles. Seven players now feature inside the ATP top 50, with eight in the top 100. Each Grand Slam of 2025 included at least one British representative in the men’s doubles final.

The success extends to the women’s game. British No.1 Olivia Nicholls climbed to a career-high No.23 after reaching the Indian Wells final and winning a WTA 500 title in Berlin. She leads a group including Maia Lumsden, Emily Appleton, Madeline Brooks, Harriet Dart, Alicia Barnett and Jodie Burrage, all ranked inside the WTA top 150.

These results highlight a defining season for British doubles tennis, built on consistent partnerships, strong results and depth across both tours.
